Do you have all of these potential ideas, dreams, goals, (whatever you want to label them), but you just don’t know how to get from point A to point B? You feel a sudden blast of motivation, but it quickly dissipates when the first road block knocks you flat on your face. Maybe you even struggle to get clear vision on what it is that you’re “supposed to be doing” with your life. Let’s face it, we’ve all been here.
I’m what you call, a “multi-passionate-preneur”. I’m into soooo many things. I enjoy doing and learning all the things. However, as enjoyable as that may seem, I struggle with consistency and focusing on finishing any one particular thing. I have no problem starting something. I have no problem getting motivated. However, I often have trouble figuring out exactly what it is that I need to be doing. Enter: feeling stuck.
I can often waste so much of my time doing things that will lead me no where, that I’ve exhausted the only time that I had to be truly productive. The time that I could have utilized to move forward.
Maybe you’re not into multiple things like I am. Maybe you’re into one thing. Maybe you can’t figure out what you’re into. Here’s the thing, what I’m about to say might be really basic, but it is the KEY to get out of feeling stuck.
YOU HAVE TO MAKE TIME FOR GROWTH.
What does that exactly mean? It means intentionally making time to invest in and bettering YOU. Of course you’re going to question how to handle life outside of yourself if you don’t make the time to feed into the life INSIDE of yourself. If you want to thrive in your personal life, in your spiritual life, in your business life, YOU HAVE to feed those things and it starts on the inside.
What you feed, will grow.
If you are questioning how to do things, or why things happen, you forgot to make the time for seeking it out. Why or how should never be a question. The only thing that stops us from moving forward is our willingness to figure it out.
How do we figure it out?
We become growth hungry. We adopt a drive to become better. Whatever stresses us, hinders us, or takes up our time, we look at it first and we choose to do what we can to make it better. You set your mind that everything can be figured out.
If I wasn’t showing up as the mother or wife I knew I needed to be, I looked at what I could do to grow in that. I figured out the cause of the stress (the problem), and I worked on fixing it. For me, to be more patient and understanding towards my family (and really anyone), I had to make time at the beginning of my day to read, pray, and reflect. If I struggled in one area, I would literally Google podcasts, books, scriptures, etc., on that particular issue. Suddenly, my exact hindrance becomes a stepping stone to move me forward.
I make it a point every single morning to take time for myself (before anyone wakes up) to take in anything I can to grow. Any window of time I have, I become a sponge to anything I can learn. This past year and a half I probably listened to over 50 audible books and 100’s of podcasts. I prayed and got into reading the Bible consistently again. I focused first on my personal and spiritual growth because truth is, that’s the foundation of everything we do.
Can I tell you, in doing that, it led me to being the most creative I have ever been in my life. It led me to being the most consistent I have ever been. It not only motivated and inspired me, but it led me to so many new things I never knew existed. I have gained so much clarity and perspective and have been able to clearly recognize which drives and passions I need to follow. God has opened my eyes to so many things. The things and people I have surrounded myself with have kept me accountable as well.
It is a daily choice to develop a habit of intention. It is CRUCIAL to develop a habit of growth. When you have a mindset of growth, you will never have to worry about staying stuck in any one thing.
With each new thing I came across, it became a domino effect that would connect me to the next thing. Ideas and visions were getting sparked left and right. Soon, I was able to take steps of action toward my goals because through focusing on growth, I knew what I needed to do. Like I said, don’t let the how or why stop you. When you take action to do things that will make you grow, you’re going to figure it all out.
As you learn new things, a big tip I can give you… WRITE IT ALL DOWN.
Writing down things that stand out to you is so important. I literally have a notebook FILLED with random thoughts, ideas, quotes, etc. Some pages look like a hodge podge of a mess and other pages are organized outlines acting as strategies of execution. Here’s the thing, if you don’t write things down, they’ll just circulate right out of your head. If you can’t see it, you can’t apply it. When it’s written out on paper it acts as a road map that leads you to move forward in the direction you need to go.
I also love writing things down because it acts as a refection tool that helps me see how far I’ve come. It keeps me encouraged. It keeps me inspired to help others and helps me better communicate to them how I was able to move forward.
We are called for great things. How can we act on those things if we don’t create daily habits that lead to them? What do you spend your time doing? Any successful corporation analyzes their time and production in order to increase growth. If we want to be productive in the areas that matter, and become better, we have to analyze our spent time and make it a priority to fit in ways to feed our growth.
It seems like common sense right? When you grow, you move forward. Growth is the opposite of being stuck. Thing is, we don’t make the time to do it. We get so hung up on the narrative and excuses we tell ourselves. We listen to others around us. We compare. We spend so much time on over thinking, that we overlook the exact thing that catapults us into greatness: taking action to learn.
We are capable of achieving anything. If we get out of our heads and tangibly write out strategic plans as we learn, we will figure out each next step we have to take. Before long, we all of a sudden realize that we made it to “point B”.
Feeling stuck often means not feeling inspired. Here’s the thing, we are all capable of creating, inspiring, and becoming better. When we stay connected to being growth hungry every day, we will be guided into the things we enjoy, the things that drives our passion, and the person we are called to be. We will start to feel purpose again. When we have purpose, we won’t feel like we need to chase things that aren’t necessary. We’ll figure out what those things are as we start each new day with intention to bettering ourselves.
So start the fire inside of you to learn and grow my friends. If you’re curious about a particular thing, struggling with a specific issue, you better believe there is something or someone out there with something to help. Seek it out. Read it. Listen to it. Take it in and make it your own within your own story.
